Biblical Justice Definition | What the Bible Says About Justice

Biblical justice is more than fairness—it is God’s call to defend the vulnerable, confront corruption, and restore dignity to those harmed by injustice. Throughout Scripture, justice reflects God’s character and His desire for people and societies to flourish.

At ASJ (Association for a More Just Society), we believe biblical justice means putting faith into action. From fighting corruption in Honduras to protecting children, improving education, and advocating for human rights, justice is not just a concept—it is a Christian responsibility.

Biblical justice is rooted in the belief that every person is created in the image of God and deserves dignity, protection, and opportunity. In the Bible, justice involves:

  • Defending the poor and vulnerable
  • Speaking truth against corruption
  • Caring for widows, orphans, and strangers
  • Restoring what has been broken
  • Living with righteousness and mercy

Biblical justice is both personal and systemic. It changes hearts while also confronting broken systems that harm vulnerable communities.

  • What is the definition of biblical justice?

Biblical justice is the pursuit of righteousness, protection for the vulnerable, and restoration of what is broken according to God’s character and commands in Scripture.

  • What does the Bible say about justice?

The Bible repeatedly calls believers to defend the oppressed, care for the poor, confront corruption, and walk humbly with God.

  • Why should Christians care about justice?

Because justice is central to God’s heart. Scripture consistently calls believers to love their neighbors and defend those facing oppression and injustice.
