Privacy Policy
Association for a More Just Society – U.S. (ASJ-US)
Effective date: June 4, 2026
ASJ-US (“ASJ,” “we,” “us”) respects the privacy of our donors, supporters, and website visitors. This policy explains what personal information we collect through asj-us.org and related forms, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it, including:
- Contact details — name, email address, mailing address, ZIP/postal code, and phone number, when you subscribe to updates, register for an event, contact us, or join our prayer network.
- Donation information — when you give online, our payment processors collect the details needed to process your gift. Card payments are handled by our PCI-DSS-compliant providers (currently Givecloud and DonorPerfect); ASJ does not collect or store full payment-card numbers on its own systems.
- Communication preferences — the topics you ask to hear about (for example, prayer updates or general updates).
- Automatically collected data — limited technical and usage data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to: process and acknowledge donations; send updates, newsletters, event invitations, and fundraising messages you have asked to receive; respond to your inquiries; administer our programs and prayer network; and meet legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. We send marketing communications to people who have opted in or otherwise interact with us. You may opt out at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in our emails.[AW1] [AO2]
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who act on our behalf — such as donation and fundraising platforms, email and CRM providers, website hosting, and analytics — and only as needed to perform those services;
- when required by law or to respond to a valid legal request, protect the security of our site, or cooperate in a law-enforcement or public-safety matter; and
- at your request or with your consent to advance our mission.
4. How We Protect Your Information (Security)
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. These measures include (i) encryption of data in transit using SSL/TLS on our website; (ii) the use of PCI-DSS-compliant payment processors; (iii) firewalls and secured servers; and (iv) restricting access to personal information to authorized staff and service providers who need it. [AO3] No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information consistent with applicable standards.
5. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here — to maintain your donor and supporter relationship, meet legal and financial-reporting requirements, and honor your communication preferences.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and support our outreach. We use four categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site and donation forms to function. These are always active.
- Functional — remember your choices (such as language or form entries) to improve your experience.
- Analytics — help us understand site usage in aggregate. We use Google Analytics for this purpose.
- Advertising — set by third parties to measure and support our outreach and to show ASJ content to people who have visited our site. These currently include the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, Google Ads, Google DoubleClick, and cookies set by embedded YouTube videos.
Your choices. When you first visit our site, we display a cookie banner that lets you adjust cookie settings for any non-essential cookies (functional, analytics, and advertising). You can change your choice at any time through the banner or your browser settings; disabling some cookies may limit certain features. You can also manage advertising preferences directly through Meta (facebook.com/adpreferences) and Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).
We do not provide your name, email address, or donation details to these advertising services; they receive only the limited browsing information described in this policy.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You are in control of the information you give us. You may, at any time, ask us to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, or change your communication preferences, by contacting us using the details below. Every marketing email also includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, and we will honor valid requests as required.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Supporters
ASJ-US works with partner organizations including ASJ-Honduras and ASJ-Canada. If you provide information from outside the United States, it will be processed in the U.S. and may be shared with these partners and our service providers consistent with this policy.
10. Links to Other Sites
Our site may link to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and will not apply changes retroactively to previously collected information in a way that conflicts with the policy in effect when it was collected.
