How to Support Education Reform in Honduras
Education in Honduras is in crisis—millions of children face overcrowded classrooms, undertrained teachers, and inadequate resources. But there is hope. At ASJ, we believe that quality education is a fundamental right and a pathway out of poverty and injustice. That’s why we partner with families, educators, and government leaders to improve school infrastructure, increase teacher accountability, and ensure children receive the education they deserve. Whether you're in Honduras or abroad, you can help support this transformation—because every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.
What are the biggest challenges facing education in Honduras?
Public schools often suffer from underfunding, absentee or underqualified teachers, and poor infrastructure. In Honduras, there are 2 million kids who depend on the public education system. In rural areas, access to quality education is especially limited. These issues create long-term barriers to success for Honduran youth.
How does ASJ work to improve education?
ASJ conducts research, advocates for better education policies, and monitors school days and lunches to ensure transparency and accountability. We work with the government to improve teacher hiring processes and ensure public funds are used effectively to benefit students.
How can I help improve education in Honduras?
You can donate to support ASJ’s education programs, share our mission with your network, or get your church or community involved in sponsoring school reform initiatives. Every dollar and voice helps us advocate for better futures for Honduran children.
We strive to be brave Christians, dedicated to doing justice in Honduras and to inspiring others around the world to seek justice in their own contexts.

Written by ASJ Co-Founder Kurt Ver Beek and Christian philosopher Nicholas Wolterstorff, Call for Justice draws on stories from Honduras to illustrate what it means to do justice. It provides a practical and inspiring guide to seeking justice in our everyday lives.
